These days are challenging ones for me. The simple fact of being a German living in Germany makes that I am finding myself on a battle field that I didn’t choose.
What is CEASE FIRE for me? It is, in the first place, SPACE. The necessary space to allow for questions around our human nature, what we need for a felt sense of safety, and what the conditions are for us to thrive.
I simply don’t find my answers in the narrow choice between “war” and “peace”. I do need space for the questions that allow my soul to breathe. My soul is longing for space that allows me and you to fail which includes the possibility to come back to our relationship – deepened, widened, being more than we were before.
I am not standing for peace. I am standing for an orientation towards peace, committed to explore and gift the conditions for peace in me, for peace in you and for peace amongst us to emerge. Almost like a by-product if our human nature can be.
Human beings nervous systems long for safety. Human beings long for meaningful relationships and belonging. Human beings fight for respect and dignity where it’s violated. Human beings wish to contribute to beauty. And maybe the most important thing to acknowledge about human nature today: human beings are capable for repair.
“Integrity is not about ourself. Integrity is the integrity I allow the other to be in.” (Nora Bateson) This is a quantum leap. We can not make it. It is a possibility, the threshold we are invited to cross in maturing into a new version of ourselves that acknowledges our human nature in its basic needs AND its potentials.
I don’t stand for peace. I am standing for spaces where our species in its lostness, where you and I and “they” are allowed to rest & thrive, to start to find home in the vast and sheer complexity of life – that we will violate and that we are allowed to come back to in our orientation towards repair. Come and dance with me that beautiful dance where our hearts are being broken – that we can express the depth of love and care we are.
